Hi and welcome to my Weekly Insight for Monday  13th  April  2009

That special something.

Easter is a very special time and a holiday that is eagerly looked forward to. For many it's a spiritual time and others enjoy the last good break before winter. Whatever your focus it is a few days to take a breather, refresh and reflect.

Reflection is a good thing and whilst taking a few moments of peace this weekend I was reflecting on what is important and what is my focus.  I took a few moments on Monday morning to plan my week and to make sure the important things were in my plan.

Time management text books tell us to focus on what is dollar productive, what is important, what activities will achieve the goal.

I took a few moments to check my plan, the tasks, the appointments. It struck me none were really special. Yes they were important and achieving the outcomes they offered would be satisfying, but none were special. I resolved to spend the rest of the day on what was special to me. After all that's what I do all the rest for. Here was a day off - a day for me and those special to me. I wondered how many of us never take time to do what's special to us? Take a moment and think what is something that is really special to you.  Make time this week for that. Learn to take this time out of your work mode without guilt. Just be present and enjoy what is special. This should make all the work stuff worthwhile!
