"A lovely phrase, incredibly eloquent, succinct and yet it completely describes the real estate market in New Zealand. (The phrase was coined by Texan guru John Maudlin to describe world equity markets but accurately describes our residential state of being at present.)

Was a time there existed direct and measurable relativities, suburb to suburb, market segment to market segment, new to existing etc. and Auckland vs. Wellington vs. Putaruru and so on. Government Valuations had some merit and value beyond being a rates gathering criterion; in short there was an orderliness to the market and pricing a property for sale wasn’t a slow form of Hara-Kiri by beaurocracy."

The market is never as we have seen it before. This means we as realtors need to take a good look at how we do everything. This supports my recent comments that we need to re-evaluate every strategy, office or industry "habit" and look at what works best, to do the best, for our clients and customers in such a new environment.

It demands that we look at all these things anew.
