Don?t be intimidated ? use inspiration

Salescoach - Weekly Sales Tip

Don’t be intimidated – use inspiration

We had the pleasure yesterday of attending the cricket match at Eden Park between New Zealand and Australia. And what an awesome day it was. Despite a history of losses, the carried invincibility of the Australian team, the negative NZ press, radio and TV commentators, who only days ago were lambasting our team and coach, our team won.

The seemingly invincible are always beatable if you believe it can be done.

Sitting around us in the stands were so many doubters – grumpy faces, calling out boring phrases, like loser etc. Once Australia scored over 300 some even went home. The ASB stand had emptied 50% before the last 10 overs. Why are there so many negative people?
Just like some sales offices?
We thought one particularly grumpy ole guy was perhaps there because his wife wouldn’t have wanted him at home. Even in victory he was ungracious.

So many of us had fun despite these people and our team won. Worth celebrating success isn’t it?

But our team didn’t take any of that on-board. They knew that if they went in not believing they could win, they would lose. They gave it their best shot. They knew what to do and how to do it. It was just the need for superb execution of all their talents and tools on the day. One-day cricket is like a sales/listing presentation – what have you got to lose? Go in against a local notable and doubt you will succeed, or go in believing you have as good a chance as anyone? There’s only one approach if victory is your goal.

So, take a risk – fire all your shots – never leave a presentation with a loaded gun!
