Hi there and welcome to your Weekly Sales Tip Tuesday April 10th 2007.

 

Don’t let the holidays get in the way.

For many parents Easter is a time to share with family and then we add on two more weeks of school holidays. For those with time demanding sales roles and children, the next two weeks are often a challenge. We often see salespeople who are struggling to do both jobs in the holidays and this can create stress and guilt. Guilt, because you are possibly doing neither very well? 

Children want attention, the boss wants more sales and clients want more action. 

Resolve to do one of the following:

No children – work like hell as there is less competition.

Children – make a decision – work or don’t work! Don’t do a bit of either and complain about the stress. 

If you don’t work then make it clear you are not going into the office. Either get right away, with phone off or set up a regime to work from home during certain hours.

You can make calls to your database, send out a database e-letter and follow-up, make appointments for next week, prepare, print and mail a newsletter to your database. Get the kids helping and reward them with movies etc. when the job is done. 

If you do work then make sure the kids are looked after – that way you aren’t racing to be home at certain times, worrying about what they are doing – if you are feeling that way then its best to stay home – then you can plan to really push the work boundaries after the kids go back to school. 

 

Enjoy the next week – plan to do whatever you choose to do really well.
