Handle the Real Estate Winter like the Winter Surfer

Your results depend on where you go and when.

Hi [name] and welcome to your Weekly Sales Tip from Ian Keightley @ Salescoach for Monday 9th June 2008.

I was walking along a beach a couple of weeks ago and out in the surf was a lone surfer. The surf was just perfect, however, the wind was a cold south westerly, the sun was a watery distant object which cast no warmth on the day at all. The beach was almost deserted and yet here was this lone surfer enjoying some great rides.

I watched him for a while and when I saw him coming into the beach I waited so I could ask him "How was the surfing?'

He walked up the beach all wrapped up in a full body suit, complete with gloves and a hood. He greeted me with the smile of a very happy surfer. I then realised it was a friend who I had last seen in the summer - once again returning from the surf, but dressed of course in the surfer shorts for the season.

We chatted and he told me that today - this cold day - it was one of the best days surfing he's had for years.

"But wasn't it cold I asked?"

"Yes,' he replied, "But I was the only one out there, so I got the best rides of my life!"

A simple lesson I thought. When everyone else thinks it's too cold, too hard, too tough, too difficult, that is the best time to give it a go. This surfer gave it a go and had some of the best results in his life.

While others protest, whilst others talk themselves into how difficult it all is, the door is opened for those who have passion, commitment and courage. Make this a week where you step into the uncomfortable, into the risky, into the spaces where you too have can success.

Quote for the Week

"In the depth of winter I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer."

Albert Camus (1913 - 1960)
