Hi [name] and welcome to my Weekly Insight for Monday  30th March 2009

Allow the silence to do its work

We live in a world where we are bombarded with sounds, messages and words. It seems hard to find a quiet place. Do you feel that way some days? "I just want time to think."

Do you often ask yourself, "What did they say?" or "Why did they say that?" or "Why did they say it that way?"

Do you sometimes feel people just talk for the sake of talking. Silence has become so unusual that many people just have to fill any gaps that occur as silence becomes uncomfortable.

Yet it is in the silence that thinking takes place and then decisions are made. In our rush to make a sale, make a point, to get the job done, to rush, to get it all done today, are we filling all the time with noise and words.

Let silence do its work. Ask questions and allow time for the other person to think about it. Talking again can stop their thinking process. Ask your self, "Is the next thing I say going to move this forward?"

Quote for the Week

"Before you speak, ask your self, is it kind, is it necessary, is it true, does it improve the silence?"
