Hi [Name] and welcome to my Weekly Insight for Monday 15th March 2010
Generosity of Spirit!
I had an interesting experience on Friday which I would like to share with you. As you all know I am doing a series of seminars at several centres throughout the country at the end of April. I spent a very busy day Friday dealing with the organisation of these and the registrations which are already coming in. Towards the end of the day I decided some leisure time was due and decided to enjoy some time at a cafe away from the hustle and bustle. I parked the car and as I walked away I noticed a "hissing" sound coming from my front tyre. Yes you guessed it! The tyre had a serious puncture. Changing the tyre for the spare was the only course of action so I set about doing so. This was at quite a busy time and there was a steady stream of traffic passing as I went through this process. No one stopped to ask if I could do with a hand. Most looked to see what was wrong and then carried on their way. Several people walking to local restaurants seemed almost upset that the tools required to complete this job were on the pavement and therefore blocking their way. Out of the blue I heard a lady offer some assistance. Yes she too was on her way home from work and took the time to stop to ensure I was okay. Her partner was also there and he helped me finish the job which meant it was completed much quicker.
How many of us become so busy we forget the basics of life. I thanked this couple and their words are still ringing in my ears! "No problem! It's what you do". Great attitude and nice people who also had things to do that night but took the time to help someone who was extremely grateful.
So this week take the time to lend a hand if you see the need, whether it be in your business world or personal life. That colleague who appears grumpy may just need a friendly ear!
