Hi [name] and welcome to my Weekly Insight for Monday 18th July 2011

  DON'T CREEP.  SOAR!

                                            Quote for the week

"One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar."
Helen Keller
In recent days I have spent time with two new clients who wanted to change their business performance yet they were intimidated by the criticism and comments of the bulk of their sales colleagues. In one case their desire to grow their success was even challenged by their manager,
"We don't do it that way here." is often the comment. However the people who most often talk like that are producing poorly. Why would you take their advice?
We discussed the need to do things differently if they wanted to change their results.
I recalled Bill Cosby's great line,
"I don't know the recipe for success but the recipe for failure is to keep everyone happy."
When you want more, want to do it better, want to do it different, you will always have detractors. Those who are comfortable with mediocrity. Those who won't accept they can make a difference. They are waiting for the market to make it better.
This is a time to soar. This is a time to do things differently. Don't let those who don't want to change get in your way.
If your goals are real, if you know what to do and how to do it, don't let those who don't want to, get in your way.
However, you must accept that some friendships will go. That's sad, but who wants conditional friendships. They want to be your friend so long as you fit in with their thinking!
Real friends will applaud and support. So look for better ways, better results, stronger commitment and soar. Don't let the "creepers" hold you back and remember to nurture those true friends.
So make that change this week. Just get started.
Have a truly awesome week.
