Hi [NAME] and welcome to my Weekly Insight for Monday 15th August 2011

IT WAS NEW ONCE. NOW IT'S GONE!

Quote for the week

"A mistake is only a mistake if you repeat it. The first time it is nothing more than a beautuful lesson"
Robin Sharma in "The Saint, The Surfer and The CEO.

Funny how you sometimes come across a little lesson that can have a big impact.

Yesterday we were in Tauranga and whilst chatting with a friend we were reminiscing about our time at Tauranga Boys College. We recalled that we were at the opening of their wonderful new Assembly Hall when we were students there in the mid 1960's.

It seemed such a grand hall, so big, so strong looking and as teenagers we anticipated it would stand forever. It was part of what we remembered, what we were proud of. A symbol of our time there.

Imagine finding that it has gone! Not destroyed by fire or tempest, but pulled down and replaced with a great new theatre. Why? Because it no longer offered the facilities required of a new era.

I then reflected how business is the same and none more so than real estate.

We have new regulations, new compliance guidelines and so much new technology.

Then there is this very different market!

Yet many use ideas, philosophies and "This is how we do it here" that were in place before we even had fax machines.

So, leaving your Values intact, what adaptations have you made recently to make growing progress in this new environment?

The Assembly Hall going was a reminder that what we thought was a grand idea, a safe and strong place, a secure idea, a symbol, can face challenges that in some cases lead to replacement.

Yes everything was new once! And like the Hall its time can come!

So don't be "stuck", be open to ideas and new tactics.

So what is ending its time in your business this WEEK and what are you replacing it with that will make it better?

Have a truly awesome week, as

"What you focus on is what you get!".
