One of the great lessons in real estate, life and business in general, is that we get to choose what we do, whether we do it or not and if we do, how well and how often.

I was talking over the past week with several real estate people with very varied results.

Those doing well spoke openly not just of their results, but what they had done to get those results.

For those under achieving, their input was the reverse. "Give me a great new idea that is only available for me but don't ask me what I have been doing to achieve so little!"  (I assume you too will know why they didn't want to discuss what they were doing? I think it really means "Weren't doing") Their choice I guess.

During the course of this conversation one of the lesser achievers actually made this statement to the highest achiever in the room,

"Yea I know all that stuff too, but it doesn't work for me."

"So what are you doing instead of these basic things that work so well for me?" asked the high achiever.

"I tried some of that once and got no response. So I'm looking for a new idea." 

"By the time you wake up to the new idea, I will have implemented it and got even further ahead," was the reply from the high achiever. "I simply can't understand why you accept your poor results knowing what you should be doing, but choose not to. But I guess you are free to make that choice. I have made mine! I guess our consequences are different because of that. I wouldn't want to ever lose the freedom to make that choice." 

It is summed up in the phrase;

"Every action, or in-action, has a consequence. It is simply unavoidable!"
