Hi [name] and welcome to my Weekly Insight for Monday 4th February 2013
Quote for the week:
J. K. Rowling, Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets, 1999.
DECISIONS! THEY ALWAYS HAVE AN IMPACT!
This year is another opportunity to be the best you can be, at whatever you choose to be.
It sounds so simple and by now you will be looking at business, personal, health, financial, relationship and other goals for 2013.
This is the time of the year too that we are often asked by our partners, managers, bosses or mentors to set new goals and do a "Plan".
The key here is to do what is important for YOU!
I often hear people talk about their goals - sales, listings, income, stopping smoking, 4 AFD's a week, losing weight, investing, travel etc.
You and I both know that great feeling when you achieve your goal.
It is equally disappointing/frustrating when you hear people talk of goals and then see they never actually decide to DO IT!
In a month's time my eldest son Russell gets married in Melbourne, two days earlier is my youngest son's 30th birthday in Melbourne too!
And two days before that is my 65th birthday. Also in Melbourne!
So that will be an awesome week.
We have decided to ENJOY and WE WILL!
The point I am getting to, is that last Friday I visited Work and Income!
Yes, I did!
I received some forms in the mail inviting me to apply for my National Super!
DO NOT FEEL OLD!
I DONT THINK OLD!
I DON'T ACT OLD!
Yet when I got there i was invited to sit in a chair reserved for Seniors/Aged.
I actually STOOD!
You see I decided some years ago to be fit and healthy in body and mind! It seems really strange to be approaching 65 and have no feelings of ageing at all. It must simply be a state of mind.
In the last two weeks I have left the holiday lapses behind and I am back to my regime of exercise and healthy eating.
So I am down 4.5Kg in two weeks and am planning to wear all those slimfit shirts in my wardrobe. From 81.5kg I will soon be 75kg or less. That's the goal!
From time to time I hear inspiring decisions about people who made life changing decisions and how easy they made it sound.
One such person was Arthur Lydiard, the famous athletics trainer. He was being interviewed and told of his decision to get healthy.
He was a heavy smoker and saw he needed to change his habits and so he told the interviewer he decided to quit.
The interviewer asked him if he found it hard or had moments of lapse.
Arthur's reply was, "No it was easy because I had decided to quit. That's all it took. A decison to quit!"
That is a sign of strong character don't you agree?
It appears time and time again: It's strength of character that makes the goal achievable.
What goals can we set that challenge our strength of character?
Take a look at your goals for 2013 and make a DECISION that "this one" is
It simply WILL BE achieved.
Make a statement about your goal and let your strength of character stand beside you as you achieve it.
Have an awesome week being the best you can be!
